Laidback Luke Tomorrowland 2018 exclusive interview
August 1, 2018
During the first weekend of Tomorrowland Belgium, we dove head first into the party and grabbed every opportunity we got to get up close and personal with the festival’s biggest names. We were beyond stoked to have Dutch DJ Laidback Luke in our studio for a quick chat. He told us all about his upcoming set, his kung fu classes and the most embarrassing moment in his career.
When it comes to planning for his sets, he doesn’t decide what to play up until he is making his way to the stage, staying very true to his name Laidback Luke. We know that the Dutch DJs are basically one big happy family, so when asked who he was closest to, he had to think about it; picking Afrojack after much deliberation. However, Hardwell made it to his list as well.

Laidback Luke’s most embarrassing memory during a performance is when he was on stage with Dmitri Vegas and Like Mike and had to take off his shirt (like they did). This was before he started working out and so, he felt extremely awkward going shirtless on stage.
Even if you don’t follow Laidback Luke’s every move, you know just how passionate he is about Kung Fu. He is a world champion as well as a certified coach and now, you can actually learn from the mastermind himself. He has started online coaching classes because he wants to share his art with everyone, especially because he sees it as a means to release stress, or as he coins it, an “anti-stress method.”
Even though Jade did not sign up for his Kung Fu classes, he was nice enough to show her some moves.
As for what to expect in the future, Laidback Luke has officially received the rights to Kelis’ track “Milkshake” and so that is on his list of things to look forward too. We are pretty excited about him bringing all the boys to the yard, we will certainly be there.
