EDM Is Traumatic for Fish!
May 12, 2019
Ultra Music Festival (Miami) have another reason to “scale” back! Apparently, fish hate EDM!
A recent study by the University of Miami (UM) Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science found that music from the Ultra Music Festival (Miami) was indeed stressful for their neighbors. In this case, it was the toadfish.
The research noted that high levels of cortisol were found in the fish during the 3-day festival. Investigator Danielle McDonald, professor of marine biology and ecology at the UM Rosenstiel School said, “The stress response was higher than what would be experienced when being chased by a simulated predator and similar to when hearing bottlenose dolphins, a toadfish predator.”
The music festival has been plagued with complaints, lawsuits, mishaps and more. Maybe, it’s a good decision to move to the Sunshine State- sunnier days await. As for the fish, let’s hope their a different crowd.
