Olly Wood is one half of multi-award winning electronic duo Hollaphonic. The first electronic music act to be signed to a major label in the Middle East, Universal Music Group; after this initial breakthrough their rise to fame has been rapid, with four No.1 singles across eight countries and shows to over 1/2 million fans. Most recently in 2016 they have been responsible for creating the sonic identity for the Emirates Airlines ICE platform with exposure to over 250m+ passengers over the next five years, so next time you fly check out their signature at the end of the ICE welcome video. Their debut album ‘Personal Space’ also struck gold at the No.1 spot around the Middle East and with over 3,000,000 plays on Spotify their international success is the next focus for Hollaphonic.
As well as life on the artist side, Olly worked for several years with leading labels at EMI Records in Brook Green, London. Working alongside EMI Chrysalis, Parlophone, Positive, Blue Note & $tateside he honed his understanding of the music industry and was exposed to a wide range of sounds and genres with created the framework of his approach to production in years to come. During his time he was awarded with a triple platinum disc for his work on Kylie’s Fever Album, a Platinum disc on The Rat Pack’s E0-11 hits release and 2 Gold Disc’s for Starsailor’s Love Is Here and Doves “Last Broadcast’ album. “I used this time to just learn and immerse myself in the world around me, helping shape the way EMI communicated to younger generations and the student market, it was so exciting and I was able to be part of some amazing projects with super talented music industry heads.” says Olly. “This gave me exactly what I needed when I started making music again and hopefully that experience can be passed on to the younger artists we meet along the way.”
Olly also works as Innovations Director for Blink Experience, the largest Live Communications agency in the Middle East, working with Red Bull, Toyota, Adidas, MasterCard, Meraas and many more; winning Arabian Business “Top 30 under 30” and Sound & Stage’s “Power People” on two occasions. “I can’t wait to take our sound global, we’re so really excited about the future and want everyone to join our adventure.”
